Cleansing is the soap’s ability to grab on to oils.

The upper level of skin surface (epidermis) contains oil. And when dirt comes in touch with the skin it comes in contact with this oil. So, dirty skin is a skin with dirty oil on epidermis. When you wash your skin with soap and water, the dirty oil of epidermis is grabbed from the soap. When you rinse, the dirt oil is washed away. A good quality soap with this range of cleansing cleans only the epidermis. If the soap cleans also the oil of deeper skin surface (too much) then the skin becomes dry.
Soaps made with too much Lauric and/or Myristic Acid such as coconut and palm oil, can irritate the skin by washing away not only the top dirty layer of oils, but also the protective layer of surface oils on the skin. Generally speaking, keeping the total of coconut and palm kernel in our recipe to no more than 30-35% we keep the cleansing in proper range. However, we compensate the strong cleansing of coconut and palm oil by using olive oil (which has a high conditioning value) for super fating.
5. Conditioning
Conditioning is the soap’s Moisturizers – emollients content. Moisturizers or emollients are complex mixtures of chemical agents, such soaps, as specially designed to make the external layers of the skin (epidermis) softer and more pliable. They increase the skin’s hydration (water content) by reducing evaporation. Naturally occurring skin lipids and sterols, as well as artificial or natural oils, humectants, emollients, lubricants, etc., may be part of the composition of commercial skin moisturizers. 6. Creamy and Bubbly lather
Creamy and bubbly Lather is the soap’s ability to lather up and get bubbly. The higher Bubbly numbers will tend to produce a foamy, fluffy lather rather than a creamy lather with little or no bubbles. Usually, increasing Bubbly will decrease Creamy and vice versa. The higher Creamy numbers will tend to produce a creamy lather with lesser amounts of bubbles or foam.
